Significant strides have been made in the new Niwot Sanitation District plant. The Oxidation Ditch is seeing progress with elevated deck installations and water testing of the anaerobic selector. The Dewatering Building is being sealed for upcoming water tests. Meanwhile, the Clarifier is undergoing major installations including decking and piping. The Headworks Building has completed its underslab piping and backfilling, and the Headworks UV Building has finished its CMU work, ready for further development.

Our office remains open during regular hours — Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We will be closed on New Year's Day.

Oxidation Ditch Progress: Elevated Decks and Anaerobic Selector Testing Underway

Construction site of an Oxidation Ditch, featuring multiple circular concrete structures and scaffolding for elevated decks. Workers and machinery are present, with a yellow crane and construction materials scattered around the site. The area is surrounded by dirt paths and fencing.

The Oxidation Ditch has most of the forms in place, and rebar installation for the elevated decks is underway. The anaerobic selector is currently undergoing water testing, and we are eager to see the results.

Dewatering Building Prepares for Crucial Water Tests with Ongoing Sealing Efforts

An aerial view of a large, rectangular concrete structure under construction, identified as a dewatering building. The site shows scaffolding and construction equipment, with surrounding dirt paths and other construction activities in the background.

The dewatering building continues to be patched and sealed in preparation for upcoming water tests.

Clarifier Undergoes Major Installations

An aerial view of a large construction site featuring a circular concrete clarifier under construction. The site includes heavy machinery such as a yellow loader and a crane, with visible construction materials and temporary fencing around the area. The surrounding area is in various stages of development with dirt paths and other construction activities.

The Clarifier is having its elevated decking installed, with a 3-inch scum line and a 14-inch effluent line being connected. Backfilling around the clarifier and the A-basin shoring wall is also underway.

Headworks Building Progresses with Underslab Piping Completion and Backfilling

An aerial view of a construction site showing a partially built structure with concrete walls and floors. There are scattered construction materials, wooden planks, and workers on site. The area around the structure is mostly dirt with some construction equipment visible.

The headworks building is being backfilled, and the underslab piping has been completed.

Headworks UV Building Reaches Milestone: CMU Work Complete, Awaiting Further Development

An aerial view of a construction site in a rural area with mountains in the background. The main structure is a partially completed square building made of concrete blocks with a doorway and small window. Construction materials and equipment are scattered around, including a pile of metal rods and an orange box nearby. In the background, there's a green-roofed building and various construction machinery and workers. The site is surrounded by open fields and sparse trees.

The Headworks UV building is progressing well; all CMU blocks have been laid and grouted, setting the stage for the next phase of construction.

What's next?

Over the coming weeks, significant progress will be made at RLW, though the visual impact might be less striking as most buildings and concrete structures are already in place. Starting January, we'll update this blog monthly, with the next update scheduled for January 31st, 2025, considering the holiday season.

The upcoming tasks include:

  • Headworks: Expect more rebar installation, electrical work, rebar inspections, concrete pouring, form stripping, insulation, and CMU construction.
  • Clarifier: Shoring will be removed, backfilling will continue, rebar for the trough will be installed and inspected, troughs will be poured, and strip bridge brackets will be set up.
  • Oxidation Ditch: The final wall on the inner ring will be installed, the elevated deck will be formed, rebar will be placed and inspected, electrical work will begin, the anaerobic tank will be backfilled, and there might be concrete pouring if weather permits.
  • Aerobic Digester: The plug and patch work will be completed, and we aim for a water test by month's end.

We appreciate your engagement with our blog this year. Stay tuned for more updates from RLW and JVA in January 2025. Enjoy the holidays, and see you next year!
