Fees

Sewer Tap Purchase

The cost to purchase a sewer tap to connect to the Niwot Sanitation District’s sewer system is $19,600. Contact the district’s office for more information.

Sewer Usage Fees

Sewer service usage fees are a fixed rate of $198.00 per tap, due every two months. This rate is for single-family-equivalent properties. Please see “How Niwot Sanitation District calculates sewer charges” on the home page for an explanation of single-family residence.

Property Transfer Fee

When Niwot Sanitation District transfers ownership of a tap to new customers, we charge a $60 Tap Transfer Fee. The title company usually collects the fee during the property closing process.

Late Fee Schedule

Accounts that have an outstanding balance after one month will incur a $2.00 late fee.

Accounts that have an outstanding balance after four months will incur a $50.00 late fee and a late notice will be sent to the property owner as verified through the Boulder County Assessor’s Office.

Accounts that have an outstanding balance after six months will incur a $130.00 late fee and a collection letter will be sent to the property owner as verified through the Boulder County Assessor’s Office. If payment is not received by the deadline given in the collection letter, the account will be turned over to the Boulder County Treasurer. The Treasurer will add the late charges plus a penalty to the customer's property taxes to be collected the following year.

Under C.R.S. 32-1-1101(1)(e), the Treasurer can charge and keep a penalty of 30% of the overdue amount or $30.00, whichever is more, to cover the cost of collection.

Per C.R.S. 29-1-1102(7), the District Manager can levy a delinquency charge, not to exceed 10% of the delinquent amount.
